Personal Favorites

These are some of the favorites, chosen by myself, my peers and the publications that have printed my work. My portfolio is constantly evolving with photos from my adventures and from weddings and portrait shoots from near and far. Whether it be a sunrise over Greenbluff, a the balloon rally at Prosser, a sunset in Arches National Park or a beautiful backyard wedding right here at home in Spokane these are the photos that define me.Every time I look at this album I am back in the moment, taking an adventure all over again. I’m on top of a mountain or listening to the surf break on the rocks of the Oregon Coast or I’m watching a beautiful bride on the most memorable day of her life walking down the aisle and into the beginning of a new chapter in her life.

This feeling of being able to relive the moments that define me as a photographer is a marvelous feeling that I hope to be able to share with you when you look back at the memories that I preserve for you.

Landscape Photography

Have you ever been somewhere so beautiful that it’s hard to find the words to describe it? Urban Graffiti Wedding – Downtown Spokane

Megan and Quinton’s urban graffiti wedding photos turned out fantastic! We started the day in the brick courtyard behind the Spokane Parkade where they had their “first look” and then we moved to the upper floors of the Parkade for bridal party and posed portraits. I love doing pre-ceremony portraits and unveiling photos, especially in unique locations.

From the Parkade we drove over to the Spokane skate park where we took advantage of the artistic urban graffiti for the bride and groom posed photos. The backdrop was great and everything fit the urban theme, right down to the sheet music paper flowers and brightly colored sneakers of the wedding party. We even had a local BMXer jump over the bride and groom in one of the skate park photos.

After the pre-ceremony wedding party photos we drove back to La Belle Vie in Spokane Valley for the ceremony, reception, and an overall amazing time! Congratulations again to the Aikmans!

Aimee & Derek – Spokane Winter Wedding

Aimee and Derek are one of those couples that everyone strives to be like. They are best friends and have a close knit group of friends who made up their wedding party. The wedding party had already known each other for years so this winter wedding had great energy.

When we first met they described what they wanted their Spokane Valley wedding to be like. They said they wanted a short ceremony, a fun party and lots of fun photos. They easily accomplished just that! From the sparkly shoes and unique unveiling to the disco ball on the dance floor of La Belle Vie this wedding was all about celebrating bringing their families together and having a good time!

Whitney & Chase — Mafia Themed Wedding

On New Year’s Eve of 2011 I had the privilege of photographing Whitney & Chase’s themed wedding at La Belle Vie in Greenacres, Washington. I’d been planning for this winter wedding for months! The Bride and Groom had so many fantastic ideas that I couldn’t wait to see in action. After all, who doesn’t love a Mafia Themed Wedding! Everything came together beautifully; from the hospitality of the fairly new venue, to the homemade pink lemonade wedding cake and custom altar built by the grooms family. Despite the cold, wet, and dark weather; La Belle Vie provided a warm inviting backdrop that went well with the mafia themed outfits for the groomsmen… right down to the awesome pool and card tables in the “man cave”.

Jennifer & Garrett – Thorton, WA

Jennifer and Garrett met while on vacation at Lake Wenatchee, WA and the attraction was immediately undeniable. They shared similar roots, with him being from the small town of Ephrata, WA and her having worked summers helping to harvest the family crops on the Palouse.

After a short courtship Jennifer got the opportunity of a lifetime to travel to France to teach. She took the job but vowed to keep up the relationship with Garrett. Their love grew despite the distance and he proposed to her as soon as she stepped off of the plane.

The happy couple was married in Thorton, WA on July 11th.

Mountain Biking – Western US

Whipping down a trail, or pushing yourself to the point of exhaustion on the asphalt, no one but a biker understands what motivates our desires to pedal until we come home feeling like we can’t take another step.

Let someone who understands what drives you capture the moments that mean the most to you, whether it be finally nailing that backflip or bursting through the finish line ahead of the pack, I will be as enthusiastic about capturing you as you will be about smashing your goals.

Rock Climbing — Western US

As an avid climber I know the feeling you get when you stand at the base of a cliff, the sweat on your palms, reaching for the chalk before you’ve even got your shoes on, the feeling of anticipation, the rituals, the excitement with each send.

From the granite boulders of Bishop to the beautiful sandstone towers of the Utah desert, I love to travel to climb and shoot. Red Rock, NV and Moab, UT are my homes away from home. So near or far, bouldering Leavenworth or trad climbing Joshua Tree don’t hesitate to ask where the wind has taken me this month, there’s a good chance I’ll be climbing in your backyard sometime soon.

Invite me out with you to capture you onsighting, redpointing and sending the projects that keep calling you back. We’ll have a blast and you’ll have awesome photos so you can try to make your co-workers understand why you come to work with bloody knuckles and sore muscles every Monday morning. Climb on!
