We had such a great time photographing the dance as well as doing some really fun formal photos. I got a kick out of everyone involved! It was truly inspiring to see everyone running through the streets of Eugene. Runners are some dedicated and sometimes crazy folk! The sense of community was also touching, so many finishers ended the race with their hands over their hearts as a show of support for victims of the attack on the Boston Marathon. I couldn’t help but get choked up a couple of times.

In photographing 8900 dedicated souls crossing the marathon finish line I learned a thing or two about what is going to make for the best finish photos, and I feel like the photo says plenty, but I have also included a few pointers below.

  • Enthusiasm is EVERYTHING! It is my job to capture everyone who crosses the line, but if you are looking at your watch you get one or two quick snaps. People with a big smile who are celebrating their achievements are like magnets and get many more photos.
  • Emotion of any sort will be gravitated to by photographers.
  • Unique outfits – Did you know The Devil is a Red Sox fan?
  • Also, kudos to the guys who had the energy to do push ups at the finish line after the run!

Smiling faces and big emotional moments are what we love to photograph and what will REALLY look great on your desk to motivate you for the next big race.

LaDuke Photography is proud to present: The Crow High School Prom at the Eugene Downtown Athletic Club! We had an AMAZING time taking both standard formal photos and some crazy, not-so-formal photos. (Hence the fabulous inflatable dinosaur.) The venue was beautiful, the kids were all awesome and as far as I could tell everyone had a fantastic time at the dance. The photos should all be posted by May 3rd and available for purchase on the gallery. I’ll announce the completion of the gallery on my Facebook page as soon as I am done. – At the same time I will announce and contact the winner of the free portrait session! Despite the rain and wind and hail we still managed to run from cover and snap a few awesome photos between cloud bursts. I suppose being a photographer from Spokane I shouldn’t be surprised when one day the sun shines and the next it is spitting hail! Amber and Scotty were both amazingly upbeat considering the mess we were faced with. We’re aiming for a second session in May. They are having an outdoor wedding in August, let’s cross our fingers that the snow stays at bay!

Cassie and Anthony took a chance driving down from Portland to do their engagement session in University of Oregon’s Autzen Stadium. Anthony is a former Oregon Duck and they are both avid sports fans so they couldn’t think of a better way to announce their upcoming wedding than by being granted exclusive access to a football stadium for the afternoon. Football engagement photos were a new concept to me, but I am so glad that Cassie suggested it. We had a great time and even though there are are few rainy engagement photos everyone was still all smiles the entire time! Congratulations again you two!

Sometimes a destination can be as simple as a stop off near Hermiston, Oregon for family/engagement photos. Jen and Reiner were actually married last year and never had a chance to have photos done before they tied the knot. They found out that they are expecting and wanted to get some photos done of their furry family before the new little one arrives. Jen, Reiner and their dogs piled into the truck and drove from Joseph, OR to Hat Rock State Park to meet up for a windy December session. We had a fantastic time wandering around the park doing some beautiful couples photos. I am so glad they had me stop on my way to the Tricities for photos. I can’t wait to meet their newest addition!
