Highland Gardens Wedding Photography – Deer Park, WA

Highland Gardens just west of Deer Park, Washington is one of the most beautiful wedding venues in the Spokane area. It has a lovely manicured lawn surrounding a pond full of frogs and turtles with a beautiful white arbor right in front of the cattails. There are also tall birch tress, swings, and this lovely tall grass field that made for wonderful golden hour wedding portraits. Being able to take Kayla and Steven only yards away from the festivities to do posed bridal portraits was a great relief. It’s always a challenge to pull a bride off of a dance floor or a groom away from his buddies. Having everything right there at my finger tips made my life so much easier. I have so many beautiful photos to share from their wedding day. Keep an eye on this blog to see a beautiful first look, some amazing ceremony photos and some great wedding party poses.
More posts are soon to follow. I just need to narrow down my favorites from the first look photos, ceremony and the reception! If you haven’t liked me on Facebook yet do so to see my latest work!

Skinners Butte Wedding Photos – The Buchers

I’ve been so busy photographing weddings in Eugene and Spokane this summer that I have somewhat fallen behind on sharing the big pretty blog posts full of creative fun wedding photos. Pinterest junkies rejoice! I’ve got some great eye candy from Rachel and Oskar’s wedding earlier this summer.  We’ve got feather bouquets, intimate portraits in mossy trees, the groomsmen acting silly, and a great big wedding party in a gorgeous church! The wedding was held at Wesley United Methodist and the formal wedding portraits were taken at the top of Skinners Butte.  The bride and groom left their reception at Corbin Center with a fun exit with bubbles even! Eugene is such a beautiful city and even though the weather threatened us right up until the ceremony we had a great time. I can’t wait to do more weddings here in the Eugene & Springfield area!

Strick Wedding at Red Barn Farms in Colton, Washington

It’s been a busy couple of weeks, but I’m finally home and ready to share! I ended my two weeks of working out of town with John and Alli’s wonderful wedding in Colton Washington. The Ceremony took place at St. Gall Church and the reception was held at Red Barn Farms. The weather was perfect, the food  by Happy Day Catering was amazing and everything went so smoothly! Between the unveiling ceremony at Red Barn Farms, the Catholic mass and wedding ceremony at St. Gall, posed photos with the Impala on the Palouse and the amazing reception with the super fun and energetic Dudley Manlove Quartet I’ve got so many images to sort through and share, but here’s a little teaser!

A New Year’s Eve Wedding at LaBelle Vie in Greenacres, Washington

On New Year’s Eve of 2011 I had the privilege of photographing Whitney & Chase’s themed wedding at La Belle Vie in Greenacres, Washington. I’d been planning for this winter wedding for months! The Bride and Groom had so many fantastic ideas that I couldn’t wait to see in action. After all, who doesn’t love a Mafia Themed Wedding! Everything came together beautifully; from the hospitality of the fairly new venue, to the homemade pink lemonade wedding cake and custom altar built by the grooms family. Despite the cold, wet, and dark weather; La Belle Vie provided a warm inviting backdrop that went well with the mafia themed outfits for the groomsmen… right down to the awesome pool and card tables in the “man cave”.

Winter weddings are always fun, but shooting in a single building venue poses a challenge to even the most experienced wedding photographers. You always have to remain vigilant to make sure the bride and groom don’t accidentally interact. For a wedding like this, I like to utilize a second photographer to make sure that someone is always on guard. For this Spokane wedding, I was able to focus on the bridesmaids getting ready in the upstairs bridal area while my second photographer kept the groomsmen occupied with posed photos in the “man cave”. Everything worked out to perfection and we managed to keep the groom’s prying eyes off his lovely bride to be!

Unique wedding plans? Bold ideas and bright colors? Inspiring venues?…Sign me up! LaDuke Photography loves weddings that are as unique and creative as you are!

I’ve got select openings for Summer and Fall of 2012 and I’ve started booking 2012-2013 Winter weddings in both Spokane, Washington and Eugene, Oregon. Contact me today to check my availability and get a free custom quote! Read more about my wedding packages and rates here.

Destination Photography – Taking The Photographer With You

The right photographer is like a good pair of pants. They perform exactly how you need them to, they fit and mold to your personality, and their quality is consistent and dependable. Like a good pair of pants, a good photographer is tried on beforehand, before your big wedding or before your extended family portrait session. I hear countless horror stories from clients who’ve hired a destination photographer at the last minute to only be disappointed with the final product… hundreds of dollars and countless missed memories later.

If you’re planning a destination wedding or event where your photographer is critical for preserving timeless memories, consider hiring a photographer at home and having them travel with you. This may sound like an expensive option at first, but many photographers are flexible and are eager to add a destination photography shoot to their portfolio. You may even find that the additional costs are still much cheaper than hiring a photographer at your destination.

Even though I’m based out of Spokane, WA (and the Pacific NorthWest), travel and destination photography have always represented some of the highlights in my portfolio. Some of my favorite locations have been: Lake Tahoe for family portraits, Oregon for weddings, and Utah for adventure photography. I always welcome the opportunity to travel and explore a new destination. This helps me to both expand my portfolio and also ensures that my clients receive the quality photography that they’re looking for.

Earlier this month I was asked to go to Lake Tahoe, California for a couple of family photo shoots and happily jumped at the chance to explore a new area and widen my client base. I had a blast shooting the portraits and getting out to explore the area. Below are some of the photography highlights from my 4th of July Lake Tahoe photo shoots!

Lake Tahoe Family Portrait Sessions:

The setting summer sun provided great lighting for these photos, taken off of Highway 267 near Truckee, CA. Aspen trees, wildflowers, and fallen tree trunks created a fantastic backdrop.

Kings Beach July 4, 2011 Fireworks:

Kings Beach, CA had an amazing turnout for the 4th of July fireworks this year! The beach and the lake were packed full of spectators enjoying the festivities and explosive display. You can see more Kings Beach fireworks photos here.

Spokane Wedding Photography and Beyond!

Today I am excited to announce that I am expanding my wedding photography coverage area beyond the greater Spokane/Coeur d’Alene area. Now no matter where you are getting married in the Pacific Northwest I’ll be there. My expanded service area now covers anywhere in Washington, Idaho, Oregon or Western Montana. From backyard weddings in Missoula to sunset ceremonies on the beaches of the Olympic Peninsula to the traditional churches of Seattle and beyond I’m going to be able to cover your wedding with the utmost attention to detail no matter where you are located in the Pacific Northwest.

Weddings outside of the greater Spokane/CdA area will incur a small fee to cover my transportation but despite this I’ll still be able to offer you a great product at a competitive price and now I’ll be able to cover you where ever you may roam. Some photographers tack on as much as an extra $3,000 to travel with you but I guarantee my travel fee for wedding photography is Washington, Idaho, Oregon and Western Montana will never exceed $300. There’s no reason for me to be renting a presidential suite at a fancy hotel on your dime.

So why should you choose me? I’m fun and trendy and I’m going to take the stress right out of the photography aspect of your nuptials. Don’t think of me as a wedding expense, think of me as a new friend. I want to be there to capture every precious moment. We’ll work together to map out what is important to you and we’ll get you exactly what you envision without any hidden fees or unnecessary headaches.

Wedding photos are one of the most enduring artifacts of the wedding itself. Think of it this away, aside from your ring and lovely spouse what daily reminders will yoHolly & Kyleu have? Everyone eats the cake, drinks the champagne, and runs off with the fancy centerpieces. His tux goes back to the rental store and your veil isn’t exactly workplace attire, but if you have one of my wedding albums sitting on your coffee table you will have something to show off for years to come. Every time you flip through the pages you’ll be brought back to that most magical day. It’ll be just like you’re living it all over again and I want to help bring back the best memories possible.

So no matter where you’re living and where your ceremony is being held please contact me for a free consultation so we can see what I can do for you. I will not let you down.

Jennifer & Garrett – Thorton, WA

Jennifer and Garrett met while on vacation at Lake Wenatchee, WA and the attraction was immediately undeniable. They shared similar roots, with him being from the small town of Ephrata, WA and her having worked summers helping to harvest the family crops on the Palouse.

After a short courtship Jennifer got the opportunity of a lifetime to travel to France to teach. She took the job but vowed to keep up the relationship with Garrett. Their love grew despite the distance and he proposed to her as soon as she stepped off of the plane.

The happy couple was married in Thorton, WA on July 11th.

Jamie & David – Glide, OR

Jamie and David arranged for me to photograph their outdoor summer wedding in Glide, OR and I had a blast making the road trip from Spokane down there to head up into the mountains and shoot their western themed wedding.

Carhart’s and camouflage dominated the dress code and a great time was had by all. Despite the heat and the drive this was one of the most fun weddings I’ve ever shot.
